Lent 2021 - last day to register Monday 22 February

Lent is the time when many Christians seek to prepare for the annual celebration of Easter by works of fasting, prayer, study and service. The Lent course, 'Cracked Wide Open', seeks to help disciples prepare for the coming Paschal Mystery within the wider theme of what it means to describe ourselves as part of the one church. It has been compiled with a view to enabling discussion and reflection.

St Mark's will be running 'Cracked Wide Open' via Zoom each Wednesday evening from 24 February through to 24 March 2021 starting at 7:30pm and finishing at 9:00pm. Please register below, prior to the start of the course you will be provided with a Zoom link to join the meeting. For every session you will also be provided with questions which provide the stimulus for exploring the themes of the course.

For more information visit the Diocese website.

Format of the evening

  • Each session will begin with a reading from Mark’s Gospel which will form the basis for our discussions.
  • Together we will view a filmed conversation between Bishop Ruth and Bishop Will as a discussion starter for each week.
  • We will then move into breakout rooms to discuss the questions and have a time of prayer.
  • When the discussion group is finished we will return to the main group to hear a worship song and receive a final blessing.
